Jewellery Cleaning and Rhodium Plating

Jewellery is soaked for some time in a hot bath of cleaning fluids and then an ultrasonic vibration is passed through them so that the dirt is shaken out from all the small crevices. Not all items are eligible for this service… there is a chance that the intense vibrations may make loose stones fall out.

The surface of the item is abraded with various grades of Emery paper to remove deep scratches and define its original shape where possible. It is then polished on a buffing wheel to a high shine and cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.

We follow all the procedures detailed above and then extend the service with electroplating. The piece is electro-cleaned and electroplated, leaving a coating of shining white rhodium to brighten and renew the whole piece.
